I have been given the honor of representing the people on the Cambridge School Committee since 1994.  My commitment and passion for the children and residents of our City is unwavering. My family has called Cambridge home for five generations and I am a proud product of our public schools.  I have dedicated the last 25 years to youth services, civic involvement and public education to improve our community.  Although my roots are deep, no other candidate for School Committee has the track record of advocating for change and improvement of our schools.

 

The Cambridge Public Schools are at a critical juncture.  There are students at one end of the achievement gap that continue to struggle as well as others requiring the challenges of accelerated learning.  We must meet the academic needs of all our children at both ends of the spectrum to claim success.  Two critical issues that are obstacles preventing CPS from achieving success are the structure of our middle grades as well as the complexities of the Controlled Choice Policy.  The Superintendent and School Committee will be working diligently during this next term to resolve these critical issues.  Both my experience and leadership will be required for Cambridge to meet these challenges.
